We have always had a soft spot for the Aprilia product range, innovative quality Scooters. The SR50 started the whole sports 50cc class which we are eternally grateful for, the Sportcity a popular well loved commuter with an underlying sports feel making the commute enjoyable, the Mojito represents the ultimate in cool for the retro class & the Scarabeo one of the worlds most popular range of scooters, so popular it has its own European website.
That all sounds pretty good & is typical of website press releases but really doesn't get across what this means to all of us at Scooter HQ. To be approached by Aprilia to carry the range to us represents industry recognition for all the hard work we have put in over the years. Our appointment is also part of the new more aggressive Aprilia strategy.
This has all happened pretty quickly, basically most distributors pop in to say "hello" every now & again, as usual we give them a bit of a hard time suggesting more people would ride their respective brands if they were available through us & they respond with something about programs & promotions to show they are more "pro active" than whoever we deal with. It's always tongue in cheek & a bit of fun.
This time around it was a bit different, Mr Aprilia popped in & I made my usual smart remark about how Mojito sales should be double the current levels given its ultra cool styling. Mr Aprilia wasn't in the mood for the usual rivals banter, he called my bluff "Do Scooter HQ want the Aprilia dealership?" "Does a bear s..t in the woods?" was my response & the ball started rolling...
We have placed our initial order with Aprilia & expect the first stock in a couple of days. A demonstrator Mojito is the first port of call, I've always wanted one of these "Retrosexual Scooters" in that I mean they are a sleek sexy retro scooter with a great engine, built to last and being an Aprilia they handle. It also means I need a Nolan N30 flashback helmet to match, lucky it's my birthday this month.
The other demo we will be running is the Scarabeo 250ie, another superb model arguably the pick of the Scarabeo range, it packs the well respected Quasar EFI 250cc engine into one of the most comfortable scooter chassis in the business. While comfortable it is quite willing to commute you in comfort while able to give the most demanding scooter rider a smile on those casual runs.
Without doubt Aprilia are a top tier scooter manufacturer whose scooters are constantly setting new industry standards.
