PGO Xhot 150i What's Hot? Quick spin on PGO's BeeWee slayer Brendon Watson In December we were lucky enough to have a fang of the entire PGO range for 2010. My favourite of the range is without doubt the new Xhot 150 EFI. This thing is an absolute hoot, the fuel injected 150cc engine is tuned for torque rather than outright power. This translates into a scooter that is very punchy off the mark, out of corners & rolling accelleration.
The chassis is a perfect match for the engine, twin rear shocks with conventional telescoping forks with a large wave style front disc brake, rear brake is drum on the one I rode however I believe Australia will be getting the disc brake version. The steering geometry is sharp making the Xhot really "chuckable" for a 150cc scooter. Motorcyclists looking for a scooter should take this one for a spin.
On the ergonimics side of things the Xhot is great for bigger riders with heaps of room, instruments are clear & the tacho is a nice touch although not really needed on an automatic. Heaps of underseat storage with rear rack you can mount a top box on.
The Xhot 150i is a direct competitor to Yamaha's venerable BeeWee 100 which is a great little scooter that we like so much we developed a kit to make it almost perfect. The Xhot 150 is better than a HQ kitted Beewee straight out of the box. If you like the BeeWee you are really going to dig the Xhot 150i, it's in another league.
Every now & again a scooter arrives on the market which I really like, such as Aprilia Scarabeo 125/200, Derbi GP1, SYM Mio100 (not the 50), Daelim S1 & a few others. There is no distributor appointed for PGO on the Gold Coast at this stage so I'm providing honest feedback, we do have our hand up for the job though.
PGO Xhot is going to retail for about $4,600 with 12 months Queensland registration. ($3990 +ORC).
