The Quiet Achiever makes some noise Derbi Rambla 250ie How about $6799 Rideaway - that's almost $1,000 off Brendon Derbi Australia are set to release the new Rambla 300ie which means the current 250ie models must be cleared. At Scooter HQ the Derbi Rambla 250ie is one of our long term permanent rides. We've had the same one for over a year & travelled nearly 9,000kms on it. That 9,000kms is more K's than we put on any of our other demo/permanent ride scooters.
The Rambla has slipped under the radar @ HQ, quietly going about its business of deliveries, pickups, general commuting plus the lunacy that is a HQ scooter run. The punch of the Quasar 250cc engine making it perfect for around town leaving the cars behind at the lights when needed. The twin disc brakes up front combined with a disc rear stop the Rambla on the riders command. The Rambla 250ie is best described as being like a 50cc on steriods to ride. It's light, narrow, quick & stops. The Rambla is able to plod around at snails pace or cruise at 110km/h. It's just so extremely versatile.
There is a great deal of debate on the 250cc Versus 300cc engine. Personally in scooters like the Rambla & GP1 that are more of a sporty ride I like the 250cc engine with its willingness to rev. You see the 250 & 300 are basically the same engine design, they produce the same power but the 300 has more torque. The advantage of the 250 is it produces its power higher in the rev range than the 300. In a sport scooter that type of power delivery can be preferable suiting the nature of the Rambla, in a boulevard cruiser like the Vespa the 300 could be the better engine.
Eitherway the Rambla is one of the quiet achievers in the scooter world, reliably transporting many owners (including us) day after day ater day. Best of all it's one of those scooters your ride rather than commute on, we have only 3 Rambla's left at $6,799 rideaway, arriving to work with a smile? priceless.
