QJ stands for Qianjiang Motorcycle Group. To most QJ is just another Chinese Scooter manufacturer, however like most industries Chinese Scooter manufacturers are not created equal. We rate QJ as the number 2 Chinese manufacturer in terms of quality just behind the Zonshen Piaggio Foshan factory who produce scooters & parts for the Piaggio group (45% owners) which includes the Derbi and Aprilia brands.
Australian scooter riders will already be familiar with QJ products from local brand Vmoto & Italian Brand Benelli who are now owned by QJ giving this Chinese giant some of the worlds most advanced design facilities. We believe QJ will be a major powerhouse in the not too distant future.
The Italian design of the Flash 50 is obvious, it's not a altered copy of something else whose alterations make them look naff. This is one smart looking scooter, people aren't going to think you raided a money jar to buy it. Being Italian designed (Italy is the home & birthplace of the scooter) everything is functional & ergonomically good.
Suspension is telescopic front forks & single shock rear, Disc brakes up front & drum rear. For a 10" wheeled scooter its surprisingly roomy easily catering to not only small but bigger riders with a load rating of 150kg. One great design feature is the location of the fuel tank underneath the floor boards which gives the Flash a very, very low centre of gravity and a better weight distribution that rear mounted tanks.
The engine is the well proven QJ Minarelli clone variant also found in Benelli Pepe, Benellie 49X & Vmoto Monza/Milan. Low weight makes this a quick little scooter off the mark.
We have aimed this one fairly & squarely at those buying a scooter on a limited budget. There are a gaggle of "Cheap net scooters" often with a parts only warranty or located quite a distance away which can make warranty & servicing a bit of an issue.
