Taking Yamaha BeeWee 100 to the next level Ballistic BeeWee The Yamaha BeeWee 100 is a great little scooter but its capable of so much more. Brendon The Yamaha BeeWee 100cc is a great little scooter. Its a pretty good unit out of the box but it is capable of so much more.
First item that requires attention is the tyres, the standard tyres fitted to the BeeWee have a fairly "Chunky" tread pattern which makes it a little nervous on bitumen particularly around corners and makes it ride a little rough. We replace the standard tyres with Continental Twist items which are readily available in the 120/90/10 front and 130/90/10 rear. The transformation is spectacular and gives the BeeWee a lot more secure feeling in the corners particuarly under brakes.
Next Step is to give the engine some extra poke, being 100cc you don't need to go silly here, at the moment we use the Gianelli Sprint Exhaust system and will also be experimenting with some options from Tecnigas once we have some more time & a spare BeeWee. The reason we have gone for the Sprint is that it provides excellent mid range Power & Torque. Sure you can get pipes that will produce more power but they generally produce the power at the top end at the expense of low to mid range grunt and makes them too noisy. Given the BeeWee is an Urban Scooter designed for use around town we sought to improve it where it is predominately used. It is not a highway scooter so we weren't concerned with making it one.
Now the BeeWee is producing good power its time to change the gearing. A replacement Variator including Rollers & Contra spring regears the BeeWee to give it a top speed of around 100km/h. The Pipe & Variator Kit dramatically improves it everywhere and is particulaly noticeable when going up hills.
The aim of this Kit is to improve on the existing package with focus on accelleration without sacrificing reliability or fuel efficiency. For most owners this will provide extra confidence by giving that extra Zip when merging with traffic (get infront of cars if you choose) or away from traffic lights. It will also allow the BeeWee to do short highway work.
