Performance Parts Derbi GP1 250 We have managed to secure some performance goodies for the GP1 250 which also work on any quasar 250 engined scoot. Brendon We have really been bitten by the GP1 250, its performance and handling are in another world compared to most scoots on the market.
Being right into our custom & performance scooters we knew we had to get something for those like us who want something a little more personalised. Does the GP1 need these parts? Absolutely not, its just they are available and we can.
We have fitted the Pipe to the GP1 250 and are very happy with the results, the standard pipe is a Euro 3 compliant system. We replaced it with a Stainless steel header pipe connected to an Alloy muffler with carbon trim. This new system is very light compared to standard and breathes much better.
The noise produced by the new system is music to your ears providing a deep single cylinder burble, its not too loud but it does seem a bit loud (not loud like a Harley) if you are in an underground carpark. You can cruise up to a parked car, give the throttle a blip & the Quasar 250 literally barks setting off the car(s) alarm. Naughty I know but it's revenge for all the time cagers would sit up my backside trying to intimidate when riding a 50cc scoot, plus it was childishly fun & had me chuckling away.
We are waiting for a little electronic box to enable us to alter the mixture without replacing or remapping the ECU. With modifications keeping key original components is one way to prevent yourself going too far & creating a time bomb. By time bomb we mean something that will eventually blow up, just a matter of time.
What difference does it make? Apart from the noise it makes the GP1 more responsive to throttle input, the engine has more of an edgy feel with a crisp sharp response. We have yet to complete the finer aspects of tuning the pipe & will let you know how what effects it has on economy & speeds. We can tell you from just riding it that it is worth the money.
