Holder of the Le Minz 2007 Lap Record Turn your Monza into a Monzta Want 85-90 Km/h top speed and 20-40kms more from each tank Brendon Watson
We have been doing this kit for quite some time now. We know its fast, reliable and to prove it we entered one kitted Vmoto Monza in the modified class of the 2007 Le Minz 24 hour. How fast is the kitted Monza? fast enough to set a lap record in the 2007 Le Minz 24 hour scooterthon against everything.
The Monza is arguably one of the best sports styled 50 under two grand, 12 inch alloy wheels, big front disc brake (same as the faster & heavier 125cc Monaco), adjustable rear suspension, alarm, good handling, light weight and a decent wheelbase. Only problem is the 50cc engine is restricted whilst the rest of the scooter can easily cope with more.
If the 50km/h restriction does not apply, you have a Monza and a desire to get more out of it we have developed a kit for the Monza JP50 which will reliably see 80km/h with riders over 100kg and even 90km/h with lighter riders.
The first objective is to liberate some power from the motor, do not bother tinkering or derestricting the standard exhaust it doesn't do a great deal. We replace the standard system with an new aftermarket system. There are two options here, one looks like the standard system, is much lighter and also quiet. The other is louder but still compliant race look system. Both these systems are lighter and far more efficient than the standard system, they are a key ingredient to producing more power. Choosing the right system is paramount, a lot of people make the mistake of going for the biggest baddest system they can get, producing most of their power high in the rev range, great on a race track but useless on the road.
Once the pipe is on we then do a few tricks to the induction system, we have opted not to use a pod filter for reliability and noise reasons. With this complete the Monza now produces very good power right across the rev range. On the road the Monza will rocket along to about 70km/h regardless of who is on it or the size of the hill you are going up.
So now we have libertated some extra kilowatts from the engine we can change the gearing on the scoot so it has a higher theoretical top speed. A new variator combined with rollers and springs to suit the riders weight and riding environment will give the bike a top speed of between 80-95km/h.
There are some benefits that have surprised owners who have upgraded to this kit. First you will get far better fuel economy with riders getting an extra 20-40k's from a tank. Why? because the engine is now more efficient and doing less revs at any given speed. Less revs equals less fuel!
What about warranty? - There is none, once you fit the kit there is no manufacturers warranty. Technically speaking the Monza has a 12mm gudgeon pin connecting to the piston to the rod. Most 50's only have a 10mm pin meaning the Monza's engine is very strong. We have spent a great deal of time and thousand of kilometers developing this kit. Our customers with this kit fitted are from all walks of life, young, old, male, female, light, heavy, solo riders, riders with pillions, boy racers and commuters. There are two interesting facts they all share, no one has suffered a mechanical breakdown and no one has ever wanted to sell one.
